After concluding that women needed a feminine hygiene product to supplement their needs, Allen developed and patented ForeverFresh Disposable Undergarments and recently launched ToddiFresh, a children's line of disposable underwear. The product is currently distributed to schools across the country by School Nurse Supply, MacGill and School Health. This is the third launch of her product and the company is now expanding into the medical markets.
Prior to re-launching ForeverFresh, Allen was a new business development consultant for Continental Services parent company, Infinity & Ovation Yacht Charters. She conceptualized and developed the Summer Cruise Series which continues to be an extremely successful program for the division.
Tanya is also the managing member of AP United LLC. In September of 2008 APU teamed with LS Travel Retail, now Paradies Lagardere, to open four concessions in the North Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport - Relay/Caribou and USA Today stores. In 2013, the JV opened three additional stores in the McNamara terminal- Michigan Sports, The Economist and Porsche Designs/Hugo Boss. In 2013, APU partnered with Hojejj Branded Foods (HBF APU) and the following year were awarded ten, of the twenty-five new food concepts in the McNamara terminal. They operate a mix of local, national and international brands– P.F. Chang’s, Long Horn steak house, Qdoba, Plum Market, Chick-fil-A, Illy coffee and several others. Under Tanya’s leadership passengers in the McNamara terminal now enjoy live music from some of Detroit’s top musicians. In 2017, Allen and her partners recently opened the much-anticipated Cat Cora Taproom restaurant.
Allen has received numerous awards and recognition for her entrepreneurial accomplishments. Allen's company (ForeverFresh) was the only U.S. firm to receive the prestigious European Disposable and Nonwoven Association award in Geneva Switzerland. Other recognitions include; National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Top Ten Award, Women of Excellence and induction in Who's Who inaugural edition of Vital Signs: “A Tribute to African American Achievement In Healthcare”, the Powerful Women of Purpose award from the Rhonda Walker foundation and the Esteemed Women of Michigan.
Tanya attended the University of Detroit. She is a graduate of the Minority Business Executive Program at Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College and Leadership Detroit Class XXIII. Allen is past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners Greater Detroit Chapter (NAWBO GDC) and is a board member of its foundation, NAWBO Excel. She now serves on NAWBO’s national board. She is a current board member of the Detroit Children’s Choir, The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW), Oakland Schools Education Foundation and Warriors Trust Fund- a nonprofit serving combat veterans. Tanya also chairs the organization’s annual 911 golf outing.
Tanya believes that whatever you aspire to do in life is attainable with faith, perseverance and the willingness to continue to learn - never being afraid to think outside the box. She lives life passionately with two credos"Lift as you climb" and "Live to give". A sought after motivational speaker, Allen freely uses her knowledge and life lessons to inspire and mentor those around her.
Allen has four children and one granddaughter. She considers her family her greatest accomplishment.
